Ork Bjord, aka Orchestra Board

The orchestra board is a team whose goal is to assist Mr. Broach in making the MSN Orchestras run smoothly and enjoyably. The orchestra board members work well together on all projects and all members’ votes carry equal weight in decisions. Orchestra board member will exhibit outstanding behavior in all rehearsals and concert situations and will seek to set examples to other orchestra students in their work and practice habits. Each orchestra board member will perform the duties included in their job description and any other duties required by the director. Orchestra board members will include, but not be limited to the following positions: Orchestra Manager, Stage Manager, Promotion Manager, Assistant to the Conductor, Sound Technician, Orchestra Librarians (2), “Roadies” (3).

Ork Bjord Positions

Orchestra Manager

• Devise and plan orchestra events (activity nights, post-concert game days, etc.)
• Give speech at banquet – year-end summary/memories, etc.
• Create an agenda for each orchestra staff meeting
• Report news to the Chamber Orchestra
• Lead orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

Stage Manager

• Devise and plan orchestra events (activity nights, post-concert game days, etc.)
• Lead in the set-up and tear-down of the stage for performances
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

Promotion Manager

• Devise and plan orchestra events (activity nights, post-concert game days, etc.)
• Lead in the promotion of orchestra performances, events, etc.
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

Assistant to the Conductor

• Help the Managers devise and plan orchestra events
• Take daily attendance in rehearsals
• Assist the conductor when needed (see attached map to Starbucks)
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

Sound Technician

• Help the Managers devise and plan orchestra events
• Develop a knowledge of the electronic equipment in the orchestra room
• Assist the conductor with electronic equipment
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

Orchestra Librarians (2)

• Help the Managers devise and plan orchestra events
• Organize orchestra library
• Sort and file all orchestra music
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
• Lead by example

“Roadies” (6th grade) (3)

• Help the Managers devise and plan orchestra events
• Assist the Managers & Librarians when needed
• Report news to the Intermezzo Orchestra
• Attend all orchestra staff meetings
