Ork Mountain
From Orkipedia
Ork Mountain is a discussion forum where students of the MSN Orchestra program take advantage of technology to further their understanding of music. With such technology students are able to bring the orchestra classroom into their homes. Music performed and studied in the orchestra classroom will be available through Ork Mountain for students to hear and critique. Ork Mountain also gives students the opportunity to continue the many discussions that are sometimes cut short due to time restraints and the pressures of preparing music for performance.
Not only are students growing in their understanding of music, but by using technology in this way, they are integrating their personal lives with their academic learning. Frequently, students use forums at home for personal interests (gaming, music, social, etc.) but will now have the opportunity to use forums in an academic manner. A wishful side effect of students using a forum in an educational setting is that they will practice proper Netiquette, practice using proper grammar, and practice being creative. Students should take these practices to the other forums in which they participate.
The purpose of Ork Mountain is to let orchestra students (and parents) discuss topics pertaining to orchestra.
